The making
of art is an intimate experience for me. With the first stroke of the brush
or flow of the paint, I romance the form and the seduction begins.
Being
an intuitive painter/sculptor, I have dialogue with my materials, reacting
to the movement, shape and color, with the first stroke, letting it lead me
to the next. This allows the image to be free, full of surprises. It maintains
the mystery and the magic of the medium, which has a tantalizing order of
it's own.
Art is
meant for sharing - experiences, beliefs, history - bonding the artist and
viewer. There is much risk involved in the artist's role. The risk of being
vulnerable, exposing one's innerself . . . at the risk of seeming foolish.
Like love, art contained and controlled loses it's heart . . . it's passion.
When
it is set free, that is when the romance begins.
